The course structure provides students a broad-based bachelor’s curriculum with a set of core units and a combination of specialised units in Accounting, Human Resource Management, International Business Management, Marketing, and Business Technology. These options enable students to target their studies to suit their personal interests, needs, and aptitudes. Exit Qualifications
To provide flexibility, VIT provides two exit qualifications. Successful students are eligible for the highest of these for which they have met the criteria:
  • Bachelor of Business (Accounting, Human Resource Management, International Business Management, Marketing, Business Technology – 24 units with 6 units in one specialisation and 2 capstone units)
  • Diploma of Business (8 units)
Students will be eligible to offset some units based upon Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) credits, however they must complete at least 50% of their units at VIT to qualify for a particular VIT award.

To graduate with a BBus, you need to have completed 144 credit points. If you have studied related units and/or have extensive professional, supervisory or managerial experience, you may be eligible to receive advanced standing through recognition of prior learning/credit transfer (RPL/CT).

The Sustainable Business Management Concept unit will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the organisational environment in which businesses operate. You will explore the various ways organisations are designed and structured, and understand the importance of different functional and operational areas within them. The unit will also focus on helping you understand the primary economic, legal, regulatory, political, technological, social, and cultural aspects of the business environment. By the end of this unit, you will have a solid foundation in business fundamentals, empowering you to navigate the complexities of the organisational landscape and make informed decisions for your future success.

In the "Working with Business Data" unit, students will embark on a comprehensive journey to master the fundamental mathematical and statistical concepts vital for analyzing and interpreting business data. Emphasizing practical application, the unit will equip learners with the skills to identify and leverage various data-driven tools for informed decision-making in business contexts. Through hands-on experience, students will learn to skilfully interpret graphs, plots, and statistical data from multiple sources, ensuring a proficient use of analytical tools and measures. In this introductory unit on Economics, students will delve into the intricacies of economic theory and its practical implications. In this unit, you will explore the impact of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) on organisations, accounting practices, risk management, data analysis, and communication efficiency. You will cover various aspects, including how databases, networks, the internet, blockchain, and transaction processing influence business practices. You will examine topics such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in accounting, business intelligence, big data utilisation, and auditing. The objective of this unit is to provide you with introductory accounting concepts, issues, and problems. You will not only explore the core concepts and techniques of financial reporting and analysis but also examine the crucial ethical, regulatory, and sustainability dimensions associated with the accounting profession. The unit initially uses a worksheet approach and then introduces you to debits and credits and the use of journals and ledger accounts to record the accounting cycle. In this unit, you will learn to record economic transactions in the accounting records of different types of businesses. You will acquire the ability to produce reports such as a Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and a Statement of Cash flows. You will be able to learn how to identify fundamental elements of accounting and relate them to business transactions to read, analyse, and prepare financial statements.

This unit provides you with a solid foundation in the principles, concepts, and strategies of modern marketing. Its specifically designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the ever-changing landscape of marketing. You will explore the fundamental aspects of marketing such as market research, consumer behaviour, segmentation, targeting, positioning, branding, product development, pricing, distribution, promotion, and marketing ethics. The emphasis will be on understanding the strategic application of the marketing mix to achieve organizational objectives. Theoretical concepts are combined with practical applications, encouraging you to think critically and analytically about marketing challenges and opportunities.

The aim of this unit is to introduce you to the fundamental concepts and principles that underpin the world of finance. You will embark on a comprehensive journey to gain a foundational understanding of the principles and concepts that underpin the field of finance. Throughout this unit, you will be introduced to various key topics, including financial markets, investment analysis, risk management, and capital budgeting.Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications, you will develop essential skills in financial decision-making, critical analysis, and strategic planning, including, but not limited to:

  • Financial aspects of decision-making such as applying capital budgeting techniques in the evaluation of capital investment decisions

Effective interpersonal communication skills are basic tools for those employed in professional fields. This unit is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge of communication in professional contexts. The unit emphasises organisational communication theory, its application to effective written communication, informative and persuasive communication, the role of verbal and non-verbal communication, intercultural management, and interpersonal skills in business teams and a variety of cultures. Additionally, the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) will be examined, and its role in modern communication. The underlying theme of the unit is to provide awareness of a range of professional communication skills required to meet 21st century career demands, especially in a multicultural workforce.

This unit presents a practical understanding of the design and management of data collection and analysis to assist business professionals in their decisions. The unit covers the stages of research – from problem definition to the reporting on results. The unit will deepen students understanding of the research process, survey design and introduce students to digital tools that can assist in data collection and analysis. Students will be involved in the planning and management of a research project including the analysis and reporting of results. Students will gain confidence in assessing research and the visualisation and presentation of data.

This unit (Capstone Part 1), in conjunction with Capstone Part 2, has been designed for you to prepare yourself to apply the skills and knowledge you have acquired throughout your bachelor's course in a practical manner. Serving as a capstone experience, this unit aims to bring all your learning into focus. You will have the opportunity to work in groups on relevant simulated projects to prepare you for the second part of your capstone, a real project.

This unit will focus on developing a project proposal, project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure, with an emphasis on project leadership, teamwork, and stakeholder communication. You will be encouraged to utilise innovative technologies, create technical documentation, collaborate effectively within teams, manage your time efficiently, and communicate your work effectively to prepare yourself for the real project in BUS3002a/b. This capstone unit will proceed through a series of stages or steps, taking you through the project process from understanding the initial situation, to creating and testing alternative solutions, to developing an implementation strategy for your ideas. Along the process, you will be guided and assisted by the unit instructor. Additionally, of critical importance to this process will be the active contributions from your team members and classmates. These will not be issues that you can solve on your own, so relying on others is an important element for success in this unit.

The unit has been designed for you to apply the skills and knowledge you have acquired throughout your bachelor's course in a practical manner. Serving as a capstone experience, this unit aims to bring all your learning into focus. You will have the opportunity to work in groups on relevant simulated (BUS3002a) or real-world industry projects (BUS3002b) for internal or external clients. Your group will be responsible for project management, with guidance from an assigned supervisor. The two capstone units (BUS3001 and BUS3002a/b) will enable you to develop crucial skills such as stakeholder communication, project briefing, planning, and implementation, depending on the project scope. Typically, students would complete eight core units in Year 1 for the BBus.These units also constitute the DipBus. Students in years 2 and 3 of the BBus would complete their course with 6 specialisation units, 7 electives, 1 core unit (Research Methods & Design) and a capstone applied project (Parts 1 & 2). Students in the Accounting specialisation are required to take an additional 2 units to complete their specialisation to prepare them for their accounting qualification.

The objective of this unit is to equip you with an in-depth understanding of the role and application of information systems in accounting. You will explore theoretical concepts and engage in practical exercises in topics such as transaction processing, enterprise resource planning, relational databases, data analytics facilitation, and internal control measures for fraud detection and error prevention. You will learn how to analyse and manage financial information using computer-based systems, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and accounting software. Additionally, ethical and legal considerations in accounting information systems will be discussed. By the end of this unit, you will have the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively utilize accounting information systems, preparing you for future careers in financial accounting, auditing, taxation, or consulting roles.

In this unit, you will explore a variety of legal topics relevant to the business environment. It encompasses essential areas such as an introduction to the legal system, principles of contract law, the law of agency, and business structures. This unit also explores corporate law in Australia, focusing on the following topics: the regulation of companies under the Corporations Act, the implications of the incorporation process, share capital, the responsibilities and liabilities of directors, and the regulations surrounding corporations facing financial difficulties, such as administration and winding up procedures. Through this unit, you will develop the ability to analyse and resolve legal issues, acquiring essential skills for a career in accounting and business management.

In this unit, you will explore the principles, regulations, and frameworks that govern financial reporting and disclosure practices in organizations. In this unit, you will develop a range of essential skills and knowledge related to organizations and management accounting. You will learn the key processes and techniques of management accounting, which provide information necessary for managing resources and creating value for customers and shareholders.The unit emphasises the application of quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyse cost behaviour. You will evaluate the performance of products and business segments by applying the processes and techniques of management accounting that focus on the effective and efficient use of organisational resources. You will apply appropriate cost techniques including:

  • Analysis of cost behaviour and the drivers of costs
  • Determine and calculate appropriate financial analyses to support decisions to improve business performance
  • Distinguish and calculate different types of organisational costs and use established methods to cost specific operating decisions

The purpose of this unit is to introduce you to Australian taxation law, ensuring you develop a comprehensive understanding of the subject. You will begin by gaining an overview of the Australian tax system, familiarising yourself with sources of taxation law and current tax issues. As you progress, the unit will focus on specific topics including income tax, consumption taxes, goods and services tax, taxes on capital, and fringe benefits tax. It will also explore how taxation affects individuals, partnerships, companies, trusts, and superannuation funds. You will examine anti-avoidance provisions and explore the taxation issues related to international transactions. You will learn the difference between tax planning, tax avoidance, and tax evasion. This unit will provide you with a strong foundation in taxation, equipping you with the necessary knowledge for a crucial aspect of professional accounting practice.

In this unit, you will expand your knowledge of accounting standards from previous accounting units and establish a theoretical foundation for preparing and presenting corporate financial statements. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of accounting for group structures, business combinations, consolidation, associates, joint ventures, and different aspects of national and international accounting. The unit will cover normative and positive theories of accounting, critical perspectives, social and environmental reporting, capital markets research, and accountability for social and environmental performance. The primary objective is to develop your critical thinking and analytical skills to prepare you for careers in financial reporting, analysis, and decision-making.

The objective of this unit is to provide you with an examination, analysis, and assessment of financial records and systems to provide independent and objective assurance to stakeholders. You will explore the fundamental principles and practices of auditing, including legal and regulatory requirements, evaluating internal controls, assessing risks, gathering evidence, risk assessment, and issuing audit reports. Throughout the unit, you will learn about different types of audits, such as financial statement audits, operational audits, and compliance audits, and understand the importance of ethical conduct, professional scepticism, and adherence to auditing standards. This unit will give you valuable insights into the role of auditors in enhancing financial transparency, maintaining public trust, and identifying areas for improvement within organizations.

Organisational leaders have an influential role in the direction and future of any business. How this influence is exercised determines the efficacy and effectiveness of the leadership function. Leadership is influencing people to change. However, this influence may be contaminated by unhealthy use of power, politics and bias as opposed to healthy practices of the same. Positional leadership will always be in a place of power, how this power is used will determine the outcomes in terms of relationships, business performance and sustainability of the organisation. Power and influence in leadership will be observed mostly in organisational structures, decision-making, internal and external politics, inclusiveness, collaboration, and ethical behaviours.

This unit aims to provide students opportunities to learn and develop various perspectives of organisational leadership from the points of view of influence and power as they interact with the different theories, models and frameworks and constructs. This unit introduces students to organisational leadership theories, power models, diversity in leadership literature, ethical leadership, servant and collaborative leadership constructs, decision-making biases and organisational politics. Students will learn to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of different positions on power and influence, various practices and cultural biases in different organisational contexts.

Human Resource Management specialisation

This unit introduces the student to the field of Human Resource Management (HRM). HRM is an important function in any business and HRM role and activities are core to the success of business strategies and objectives. The students will be introduced to various concepts, theories and frameworks of HRM as well as the techniques, tools and practices that have been developed over time.

The unit will cover topics such as workforce planning, ethical and legal frameworks, job analysis and design, recruitment and selection, evaluation and performance management, health and safety, employee wellbeing, reward and recognition and staff development. The students will engage with their topics as they work with contemporary case studies, exploring theories and practice, developing critical understanding of contributing factors to successful HRM practices, and gathering, analysing and presenting data to solve business problems.

In this unit, you will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills related to organisational behaviour, strategic management, and governance principles. The effectiveness of any enterprise is contingent on the team culture it has cultivated as teamwork can affect the success or failure of the whole of the organisation. Yet in many businesses’ teams are not operating as teams rather, they are siloed in departments and functions that do not communicate to each other appropriately or in a timely manner. This results in a drop in organisational effectiveness and efficiency. In order to increase the productivity and performance of the organisation, leaders need to build effective teams.

This unit will guide students to explore multiple theoretical frameworks and experience practical aspects of building effective teams. They will explore different models of teams; various tools used to evaluate and analyse teams and team effectiveness and discuss contemporary challenges to teams and team structures. Students will interact with practical case studies to learn aspects of building effective teams. They will be expected to communicate, collaborate, resolve conflicts, and contribute to their own and other learning and team development.

With the recent development in industrial relationship practices in Australia it has led to focus on enterprise level bargaining and individual employment arrangements as well as disputes resolution at the workplace level. This unit introduces the students to the foundational concepts of employment relations, and specifically within the context of the Australian employment relations system.

The students will be exposed to topics such as employee relations (ER)/industrial relations (IR) laws and practices and will learn specific skills to be used in workplace employment relations - especially topical issues such as management of discipline, termination of employment and individual and collective bargaining. Students will explore areas of conflict resolution, negotiations, advocacy, trust building and co-operation within a workplace, the role of government, trade unions and management, and the relationships between employer and employees.

This unit introduces the student to historical and contemporary organizational theories and concepts that influence developing and designing businesses and organisations in the 21st century. The unit introduces the student to fundamentals of management theory as it influences organisational structures and forms, in the context of globalisation, virtual communication, and market demands. Themes that will be explored include structural dimensions of organisations, stakeholder influence on the structure, responding and reflecting local and global agendas, size and function in relation to organizational design, and the influence of knowledge and innovation of organizational design.

Additionally, change is an integral part of organisational life in order for business to meet the constant flux in the marketplace, customer demands and stakeholder requirements. Change has many triggers and organisational players need to be aware of how these triggers are observed, measured, monitored, analysed, evaluated and responded to in a way to engage all the stakeholders of the organisation. People usually resist change mainly because they may not be able or willing to deal with the emotions change brings, whilst others welcome the change because it gives them the ability to meet new challenges. In the same way change in organisations depend on the culture of the organisation, the need for the change and the readiness of the organisational systems and people to respond well to this requirement to change. Change needs to be sustainable to reap the positive outcomes.

Organisations are made up of people and systems. Not only do we need to build the systems and processes to achieve efficiencies and productivity, but we need to develop the people to achieve great effectiveness. The Human Resource Development (HRD) or as it used to be known as training and development emphasises the value of developing skills and competence in staff as well as the systems and processes to enable and empower the staff of achieving the required performance and objectives in their professional and business life. In this unit, students will investigate the theory and practice of human resource development, they will also learn how to assess the effectiveness and outcomes of staff learning experiences in different business settings.

Students undertaking this unit will explore different models and frameworks of HRD to create workable strategies to suit various organisational settings. They will learn about contemporary adult learning theories and their applications in modern day business. Topics to be covered will include training needs analysis, training designs, assessment and evaluation, managers as coaches, management development, creating development programs, succession planning, career development, organisational change, performance management, and return on expectation and return on investment.

International Business Management Specialisation

This unit focuses on how to successfully implement and manage foreign market operations. The key question addressed is how to design business models that allow a company to adapt to unique host country conditions and operate successfully and sustainably across a range of diverse markets. The unit draws on knowledge previously gained regarding the diversity among cultures and among various international markets. It focuses on issues related to designing environment-appropriate business models and on the challenges of business model innovation in light of dynamic global change.

International businesses frequently face ethical and corporate social responsibility (CSR) challenges. This unit provides frameworks for making ethical decisions in an international context. You will learn about major theories of ethics, CSR, and sustainability as they relate to global business decision-making. This includes the 17 UNSDGs and any subsequent systems that the global community adopts for sustainability. Topics covered will include ethical decision-making models, international labour standards, human rights, environmental and social impact assessments, and anti-corruption practices.

Business decision-making tools yield more coherent and justifiable results when used with an understanding of the ethical, social and environmental aspects of the process. This applies to various situations in the international business setting including business relations with government, customers, employees, and NGOs. This unit is designed to look at these non-financial elements in the decisions made within the international business context. Following the completion of this unit, students will have enhanced skills and knowledge relevant to the understanding of ethical issues and ethical decisions making in global business organizations.

Organisational leaders have an influential role in the direction and future of any business. How this influence is exercised determines the efficacy and effectiveness of the leadership function. Leadership is influencing people to change. However, this influence may be contaminated by unhealthy use of power, politics and bias as opposed to healthy practices of the same. Positional leadership will always be in a place of power, how this power is used will determine the outcomes in terms of relationships, business performance and sustainability of the organisation. Power and influence in leadership will be observed mostly in organisational structures, decision-making, internal and external politics, inclusiveness, collaboration, and ethical behaviours.

This unit aims to provide students opportunities to learn and develop various perspectives of organisational leadership from the points of view of influence and power as they interact with the different theories, models and frameworks and constructs. This unit introduces students to organisational leadership theories, power models, diversity in leadership literature, ethical leadership, servant and collaborative leadership constructs, decision-making biases and organisational politics. The unit offers a thorough exploration of the economic frameworks and strategic considerations that shape trade across borders. Grounded in a blend of classical and contemporary trade theories, the unit provides students with the analytical tools necessary to interpret and assess the implications of regional and global trade agreements. Through a detailed study of tariffs, quotas, and non-tariff barriers, participants will gain an understanding of the levers that govern international trade flows and their wider economic consequences. The curriculum also delves into the role and impact of specialized trade arrangements, such as economic zones and bilateral pacts, on the global business landscape. By critically evaluating the economic, social, and environmental factors influencing trade policies and practices, students will develop the ability to engage with international trade as dynamic and complex agents of change. This unit is designed not only to impart knowledge but also to empower learners with the skills to navigate and influence the evolving terrain of global trade. Much of the unit is dedicated to a problem-based/experiential approach to learning, using case studies, simulations, and class activities to deepen and solidify learning.

Emerging economies are rapidly changing the global business landscape as they present tremendous growth opportunities for the developed world. At the same time, their rise as a new competitive force has strategic implications for global managers. This unit focuses on four of the most prominent emerging economies, namely Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC nations), to develop strategic tools to win in the new global competitive environment. Drawing on current insights from International Business Strategy, a two-pronged approach is used to analyse competition in emerging economies: multinational enterprises from developed economies attempting to leverage emerging economies and enterprises from BRIC nations as they transform into multinationals to compete globally.

This unit of study aim to understand how multinational enterprises strategize and operate in global competition. Major topics include the International Business Environment (e.g., the differences in economic, political, legal, and cultural environments); International Business Strategy (e.g., international expansion strategy, entry mode choices, cross-border strategic alliances, and mergers and acquisitions); and International Business Management (e.g. design, structure and control of international operations; and foreign subsidiary management). The emphasis of the unit is on the application of contextual knowledge about international business and strategic management theories as tailored to the Asia Pacific, to analyse and make decisions faced by companies operating in the Asia Pacific region.

Marketing Specialisation

A significant role of the marketer is to manage and oversee the marketing communications of an organisation. With the proliferation of media this task has become more involved and today digital media adds a further dimension to the tasks of the marketer. This unit will develop a general understanding of the elements and processes of building a multifaceted media campaign based on integrating a range of marketing communication tools. The ability to integrate advertising, public relations, promotions and direct methods are evaluated and discussed. These elements are considered in relation to theories of communication and buyer behaviour to develop practical appeals and communication plans. Students will develop a deeper understanding of each of the promotional mix elements and their particular strengths and areas of application. Students consider approaches to integrate the elements into a consistent promotional plan that, when the elements are combined, are more effective than the sum of their parts.

This unit presents a practical understanding of the design and management of data collection and analysis to assist marketers in their decisions around customer behaviour, product design and product development. The unit will deepen students understanding of the research process and survey design, and introduce students to digital tools that can assist in data collection and analysis. Today with a greater abundance of data for analysis, marketing practitioners need to be able to understand the concepts involved in accessing, analysing and managing large data sets. The unit will explain the steps in approaching and evaluating datasets, consider opportunities for harvesting data and approaches in undertaking segmentation and modelling as well as introduce a range of important tools for the marketing practitioner, including EDA, NLP and basic Machine Learning. Students will be introduced to a framework for the marketing analysis process and learn tools to identify and design appropriate frameworks, processes and metrics to measure success. Students will investigate real-world examples based on case studies and industry-based datasets. The unit covers foundational content that is applied in more advanced data analysis and model building. Students will gain confidence in assessing marketing research reports and the visualisation and presentation of data.

An understanding of consumer behaviour is a central consideration for the development of effective and successful marketing decisions and strategies. Marketing activity requires an understanding of consumers, their needs and behaviours which are introduced through the coverage of theory and the literature. The unit develops students’ knowledge and understanding of the purchasing process through an examination of internal psychological processes and external environmental factors. Students learn about consumer needs and values, how perception influences our understanding of communications and ways to measure and change attitudes. The importance of culture and group influences are also considered in the purchase decision process. By the end of this unit, students will have a greater understanding of how consumption affects our lives and of those around us. The study of consumers’ behaviour will be undertaken for a wide range of settings and contexts which can guide the development of marketing strategy.

Today marketers are required to have the know-how, experience and insights to be able to operate and guide decisions on the use of technology for marketing and communication practices, as well as buying and selling. The heightened speed of technological change and a move to a more mobile based lifestyle has resulted in major changes to the development of marketing and sales plans. The explosion of new media formats and digital content has impacted how customer value is both created and co-created. This unit introduces digital marketing fundamentals and explores a range of digital tools that support marketing strategy and tactics including: social media use, viral marketing, community forums, display and search ads, inbound marketing, search engine optimization, live chat systems and mobile/wireless technologies. Additionally, the unit will explore eCommerce topics such as online shopping, digital storefronts, customer support and online security. Students will also be introduced to web analytics used to monitor and measure the effectiveness of a company’s digital and eCommerce strategy.

This unit introduces students to concepts and practices of service-logic in marketing as well as the role of social marketing in shaping society.

The role of the customers within the service system and effective management of customer relationships. Approaches and tools for analysing, improving, and developing complex services for face-to-face and online delivery will be explained and applied, along with concepts of service quality, service recovery and the determinants of customer satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Service industries are a dominant force in modern economies, including in Australia. In Australia 80% of production is undertaken in the services sector and includes employment of the labour force. Services account for 66% of Australia’s GDP while over 45% of an average family's budget are accounted for by services. Services (both commercial and not-for-profit) possess several unique characteristics that require a distinctive approach to marketing strategy - both in its development and execution.

At the same time, never before have social issues been more at the centre of public and private debate. From concerns about sustainability and the future of the planet to the introduction of smoking bans, there is a growing recognition that social marketing has a role to play in achieving a wide range of social goals. This unit examines the nature of social marketing and how the adoption of marketing concepts, frameworks and techniques developed for commercial marketers can be applied to the solution of social and environmental problems. After studying this unit, you should be able to: describe and explain the meaning and nature of social marketing; analyse social marketing problems and suggest ways of solving these issues; recognise the range of stakeholders involved in social marketing programmes and their role as target markets; and assess the role of branding, social advertising and other communications in achieving behavioural change.

This unit provides students the opportunity to consolidate and further advance their understanding of marketing theories, business models, concepts, and tools by taking them through each of the stages involved in strategic marketing decision making and planning. Marketing is viewed from a whole-of-business perspective where actions have implications for the whole business and there are multiple interactions within the business that contribute to the marketing function. Students are introduced to the principles of strategy and decision-making that act on market opportunities and will develops sustainable business growth. This unit provides an overview experience, which gives students the opportunity to integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what they have learnt throughout their Marketing specialisation and Bachelors.

Business Technology specialisation

In this unit, you'll delve into the world of Python programming within a business context. It's not just about writing code; you'll learn to solve complex business problems, analyse large datasets, and create opportunities for automation. By developing your understanding of Python's syntax and features, as well as improving your problem-solving skills through algorithm design, you'll gain a valuable toolkit to tackle real-world business challenges. As the unit navigates through testing and debugging strategies, effective use of data structures, and data visualisation techniques, you'll develop the technical skills needed to transform raw data into actionable business insights. By the end of this unit, not only will you be able to confidently program in Python, but you'll also be well-equipped to leverage these skills to streamline processes and drive decision-making in a business setting.

In today's digital age, having a strong ICT infrastructure is essential for businesses to remain competitive. The unit covers topics such as computer architecture, operating systems, database management, networking concepts, and security principles.

Students will learn how to design and implement an ICT infrastructure that meets the needs of a business. They will also gain an understanding of the different types of computer hardware, their functions, and how they can be optimised for specific tasks.The topics that will be discussed in this unit include:

They will also gain an understanding of the different cloud service models and deployment models, and how they can be used to meet the needs of a business.

ADMISSION

Course entry requirements

VIT has designed the course to enable students to commence studies, taking full account of their prior learning and experience, while considering the course requirements to help ensure the success of the students.

18 years or older at commencement of course.

Domestic Students

Year 12 Applicants:

a. English: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 applicants (transfers, mature age, pathway students)

a. Must submit a Personal Statement to be considered during the selection process which includes details on motivation for study, work experience, community experience, academic performance, languages other than English and other relevant information.

b. Must demonstrate their competence in English language to an equivalent level of Year 12 English (e.g. a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL). This could be accomplished through a range of methods including:

  • Successful completion of a degree or diploma in Australia
  • Completion of Certificate IV in EAL
  • Satisfactorily completed ELICOS or EAP to the appropriate level (equivalent to IELTS 6.0 overall and no band less than 5.5)
  • Complete English language bridging course through a recognised English language centre
  • Satisfactory completion of at least one semester of study in Australia in a tertiary course (satisfactory for this purpose would mean that the applicant has completed 50% or more of the semester load)
  • Completion of schooling from the following countries where English is the official language: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom and United States of America
  • In exceptional cases, the Executive Dean or delegate, can consider an English entry requirement waiver, other than the above criteria, on a case-by-case basis as deemed fit.

International Students

Successful completion of Australian Year 12 equivalent and an IELTS band score of 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5) or equivalent.

Entry into the BBus generally requires the successful completion of 12 years of schooling to the level of higher secondary education.

The BBus course is accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the regulator of higher education and the accrediting authority for higher education courses in Australia. You may look up the National Register for this course. VIT is registered by TEQSA to offer and confer Australian higher education award for the completion of an accredited Australian course of study.

The qualification conferred upon completion is recognised by the Australian Government and will provide you with a competitive edge in the job market, both in Australia and overseas.

Full time means you study 6-8 units in an academic year. Part time gives you the flexibility to take a lighter course load, which gives many working people more flexibility. Part time study is only available to students not on student visa. It is estimated each unit could take between 6 and 10 hours each week of classes, readings and assignments. This can vary depending on how quickly a student becomes familiar with the course material.

A full course load of 24 units is expected to take 3 years of full time study. However, you may be eligible for recognised prior learning (RPL) based on your education and work experience.

All Australian accredited degrees are approved by the Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency.  So, the VIT BBus is academically equivalent to any other institution in Australia and around the world.

Not all units are offered at any time. You may choose elective units from those scheduled in the timetable in a particular study period.

Financial aid may be available depending on your circumstances and where you are resident.

Domestic students may be eligible for Fee-HELP from the Government and could be eligible for a VIT Scholarship

Eligible students may receive up to a maximum of 72 credit points (twelve units) for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), with a maximum of 18 credit points (three units) to offset specialisation units. Each RPL application is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
